Living Responsibly … It’s Only Natural!

Welcome! This week’s topic is Sleep. Or to be more exact, how to get some; how to go to sleep and stay asleep for the night, the whole night. We’ve all had a night where we found ourselves tossing and turning with our minds as restless as our bodies. Mind chatter; a detriment to a good night sleep, if there ever was one. Too many thoughts and too many worries. Is this you? Does it happen often? What about the person who can go to sleep, but then wakes up? And stays up till the wee hours and then falls asleep right before they have to get up. Can you identify? Can your spouse, children or boss relate? Then, this column is for you.

What is your pattern? Mind chatter? Let’s start with slowing the breath. Consciously focus on your breathing pace. Focus. Slow it down. Then, repeat a sentence or phrase that gives comfort to you. You may reassure yourself that you have all the money you need, that the grades will be good, that there is an abundance of light and love in your life. Repeat it, believe it. Sleep on it. Before going to bed, leave your day’s agonies and stresses behind. They will wait ‘til morning. You’ll be glad you did. Every day you get a restful nights’ sleep will lend to everything in your life going smoother and you will be stronger for it. Another positive support for a good nights’ sleep is exercise. Working the body encourages tonification of the endocrine system which allows for better hormonal balance, therefore sleep patterns.

The following natural remedies can be explored to better assist you in getting that desperately needed sleep.

What if you go to sleep easy enough but wake up every morning between 1 and 3 am? What answers are there for you? Most likely, you’ve lain awake wondering. Remembering that the body is one big "whole" of lots of apparent parts, the likely culprit in waking you up is the liver. That’s right. In my experience, people with this particular sleep pattern given a good herbal product formulated for liver health will begin to sleep through the night within a week. The reason is that every organ in the body has a time period when it is "active". If an organ is not "happy" or is "distressed" it will cause aggravations in this same time frame. The liver is active between 1 and 3 am. Waking up is one of those aggravations, as if I needed to tell you that. Of course, there is often the complication of being awake leading to mind chatter. What to do?

The following is a list of products, lifestyle concerns and services that most persons have success with in restoring health and balance to the liver.

  1. 1. Gaia Herbs Liver Health
  2. 2. Planetary Herbals Bupleurum Liver Cleanse
  3. 3. New Chapter Liver Force
  4. 4. Pure Planet Red Marine Algae
  5. 5. Lemon water – drink freely
  6. 6. Diet rich in chlorophyll
  7. 7. Addressing anger issues
  8. 8. Acupuncture
  9. 9. Moderation in all vices
  10. 10. Restricting use of synthetic foods
  11. 11. Exercise

And always, lots and lots of water. The suggested intake for water is one half of the body weight in ounces of water. 100 pounds = 50 ounces. Drink up! For the associated mind chatter, follow the suggestions from the first section above.

Lest we forget, waking up to go potty because of an enlarged prostate? Perhaps you would do well trying one of the following products.

  1. 1. New Chapter Prostate L5X
  2. 2. Gaia Herbs Prostate Health

Here’s to a good nights’ sleep!

Question of the week: What is the difference between a "meal replacement" and a protein drink?

Answer: A "meal replacement" is usually a protein base that has been enriched with a vitamin – mineral blend so that it is the nutritional equivalent of a meal. A protein drink is just that, protein. It can be derived from soy, non-GMO preferably; whey, non rBGH of course; rice, non-GMO; or hemp, organic.
